Psycho spiritual healing combines the best of modern science and traditional spirituality. It recognizes an individual as a whole with both mind and spirits and uses western method of trauma counseling and eastern meditation techniques to relieve the burden of a disaster. The psycho-spiritual healing facilitates disaster survivors to reconnect with immense spiritual resources from which they can draw energy to heal the pain and sufferings and reawaken their lives with renewed faith and hope.

It incorporates loving kindness towards the survivors with a non-judgmental attitude, loving acceptance, and loving understanding. It also involves compassionate listening and spiritual sensitivity.

Testimonials from the Fields:

“ We have been given food and other items but no one came our way to help us get out of the mental trauma. We are very grateful to Sarvodaya for helping us to resume our normal living. I have not gone to the sea for six months. Now I will begin my employment. Your advice gave us sufficient courage to continue living although with sadness.”

Dearest Friends,
Greta and Jesse conducted the programs very well that the counselors were very appreciative of the efforts put in by the two of them. I feel that their programs was of immense benefit to us in the "children Helping Children" program which we hope to launch in the near future. Many counselors told me that they learned new ways of approaching children by watching their behavior. They felt that the methodologies used and the activities introduced were very effective that the counselors were able to update their knowledge with ease . They also learnt how to recognize the inner feelings of children and adults through stories. drawings and symbols. We are very grateful to you for making arrangements.

With love to you,

Geethani, Sarvodaya Sri Lanka
