Global HealtH
The Sarvodaya Shramadana movement began in Sri Lanka in 1958, and it has grown to be one of the world's most longest-lasting and influential holistic human development movements.

The movement's founder, Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, has inspired millions of people within Sri Lanka and beyond to reconsider the economic and social assumptions of colonial-consumer-industrial society.

Sarvodaya Sri Lanka's prominent programs include:

  • SEEDS (Sarvodaya Economic Enterprises Development Services) which provides savings and credit opportunities for rural villagers
  • Suwasetha which works to reintegrate disabled or disadvantaged youth and elders into society
  • Sarvodaya Fusion which works to empower communities and individuals through the use of information technology

If you are interested in traveling to Sri Lanka to learn about and contribute to the Sarvodaya movement there as a volunteer, intern, or as part of a group, please connect with us.
